Drawing Next + Update

Welcome to another post! I am going to say here what I'm drawing next, as well as when I'll start posting about it again.

So, school is almost out, meaning, if you aren't (as a class) preparing for the final exam (YAAAAAAAAAY*), then you are looking at the next topic for your class. This is usually something you will continue in high school. For example, in Science, we're learning about DNA, and in Algebra, we're doing Geometry. This also means end of year projects!!! (YAAAAAAAAAY again!**). I am currently working mostly on my Geometry project, not to mention the script for this class's TED Talk.... I, therefore, cannot do as much on the actual research of my project. BUT...

.... I can show you what I'm drawing next! I decided to go with Captain America, since I just saw Civil War (Amazing). I'll keep you posted*** about the drawing. Here's what I'm drawing! [Insert cool outro here].

Drawing Progress Posts

Here are the transition posts  that I meant to put out, but didn't get the chance to.

1. Here comes Calvin and Hobbes! So far I have part of the skeleton and then Calvin and Hobbes's heads.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2. Now I have the drawing finished, but it still has the guideline lines and so I'm gonna move it over to another paper for polishing. Meredith helped me out with this. What you do is you shade really hard on the back of the paper you're using (over the back of the drawing). You then put another paper underneath the one you used, and you trace the lines you wanted on the drawing, and it comes out faintly on the paper beneath. Trace it to darken it, and voila! Here is the ugly one with the guidelines and eraser marks. I also had to shorten Hobbes, or else it wouldn't work.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

3. Time to sit down with some hot chocolate, and start shading and darkening the drawing.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

4. Just finished my hot chocolate and my drawing. Just gonna add a bit more, and that's it!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

5. Here it is! I'm going to research the rest of my realistic part of my project, and finish up with a drawing. Like I said, if you have any ideas, that would be great. So far I have a superhero, or Link from Legend of Zelda as my drawing ideas. Thanks for following this blog!

Next Project

I haven't finished my Calvin and Hobbes drawing, but I want to see what people want me to draw for my realistic drawing. I will accept ideas, but I was thinking of Link from the Legend of Zelda series. If you have any ideas, please comment!

Schedule

I am going to lay down the schedule for the next few posts.

For the past week or so, I have been studying the art of witchcraft  cartoon drawing and I have decided to do my do my cartoony project, which is going to be Calvin and Hobbes. To be specific, this picture. How to draw Calvin and Hobbes from the Comic Strip Calvin and Hobbes with easy step by step drawing tutorial
I won't finish for a day or two, but I'll post my progress. Wish me luck! I don't want to butcher these guys in my drawing.

What I need to improve for my presentation

To day I gave my presentation, and let's just say it went just as well as I predicted (meaning I caused a stroke or two). I decided the thing I needed to learn most is probably my explanation and also my filler words. Time to practice! My next post will most likely be the first drawing project for my before and after. Wear your sunglasses/other protective eye-ware.

Setting Down the Ground Rules

First things first. What will I use in my epic and glorious (and doomed) quest? My assets include, my aforementioned sister, Lynzi, the internet (dragoart.com, wikihow.com, and other various sites for guides, tutorials, and just all around help), as well as library books.

My plan is as follows...

Step 1. Choose a picture/tutorial and make a drawing.
Step 2a. Use my many assets to improve my skills for the next 6 weeks (blogging on the way).
Step 2b. Learn to draw cartoony people.
Step 2b and a 1/4. Learn to draw (kinda) realistic people.
Step 3. Find and redraw the original picture and see if I have improved.
Step 4. Present my findings to the class in my TED talk using my pictures and show my progress/lack thereof.

Challenges I will encounter...

-Procrastination.
-Aforementioned lack of skill.
-Having time to work with my sister.
-Not getting so frustrated that I'll explode.

Solutions

-Deadlines.
-Working on it.
-Figure out a schedule
-Patience is a virtue.

Well, here we go. Wish me luck!

A Journey of a Thousand Miles Begins WIth a Single Step....

....But this one will take the step and trip and fall flat on it's face. Here goes nothing.

For the next 6 weeks I will spend my time on drawing. Drawing people to be exact. Developing a skill I do NOT have. I will be researching the basics and mostly just drawing cartoon or semi-realistic people. My goal is to become somewhat better at drawing, maybe even become good at it, but I expect no such luck. I will ask my sister, Lynzi (who stole all of the art skills from every member in my family, especially me), to help me out. Once I hone my drawing skills, I will hopefully be able to draw well enough to not cause *traumatization at the sight of it. Wish me luck!
